Jacqueline Wilson says she was 'devastated' as Nick Sharratt ended their 30-year partnership
At the 2025 Hay Festival, author Jacqueline Wilson said she was "devastated" when illustrator Nick Sharratt ended their 30-year collaboration in 2021. Their partnership began with The Story of Tracy Beaker and produced more than 50 books and 40 million UK sales. Wilson said she understood Sharratt’s wish to focus on other work. The two remain friends, and Wilson is now working with new illustrators.

Jacqueline Wilson thrills Lancaster pupils with festive visit and new Faraway Tree chapter
Children’s author Jacqueline Wilson visited Lancaster in December 2024, speaking to 272 pupils and 35 staff from eight primary schools about her new book, A Christmas Adventure, part of The Magic Faraway Tree series. The Q&A-filled event took place in a chapel decorated for Christmas. Most pupils pre-ordered signed copies, and students presented flowers to the author. Librarian Rosalind Buckland helped organize the visit.
